The main object of the Company is to acquire or take over those properties, rights and liabilities of WAPDA AEB Gujranwala and to carry on expand and extend the business and activities of such board or any part thereof including, without limitation, the business of a public electricity distribution and supplier. i.e. the business of electricity distribution. Authorized share capital of the Company is 5 Billion ordinary shares of Rupees 10 each totaling Rs.50 Billion.
To acquire or take over those properties, rights and liabilities of the Grid stations of the Pakistan WAPDA and the transmission lines in relation.
To carry on all or any of the business of purchasing,importing, transforming, converting, distributing, supplying, exporting and dealing in electricity and all other forms of energy and products or services associated therewith and of promoting the conversation and efficiently use of electricity and all other forms of energy.
Gujranwala Electric Power Company - GEPCO is Distribution company which supplies Electricity to all Gujranwala Districts.
GEPCO Objectives are:
To improve financial management to maximize utilizaiton of Compnay resources.
To make the operations of Company profitable.
To generate sufficient cash flows to meet operating and investment requirements of the Company.

To ensure speedy provision of electricity connections to prospective consumers.

To improve quality of service by taking prompt action on complaints and redressal of their grievances.
Manpower Planning Objectives.
To ensure recruitment of best possible employees in accordance with the operatioal requirements.
Train manpower in accordance with their assignments to improve their skills and efficiency.

Procurement Planning Objectives.
To procure equipment and material in a transparent manner.

To make cost effective procurement of materials withour compromising on quality.
To maintain optimum level of stock and ensure efficient handling of stores to minimize obsolete items.
Lahore Area Electricity Board was reorganized into one such corporatized entity under the name of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) with effect from 22-03-1998, with the aim of commercialization and eventually privatization.
MIS Formation
The Management information system Department is headed by Manager (MIS) with supporting software and operational team at Head Quarters and at circle level and carry out the following tasks.
General Tasks
Maintaining and ensuring standardized operation of the software received from WAPDA Computer Center , Hqrs, and Lahore .
Ensuring standardized and effective operational environment at Headquarters and at Circle levels.
Handling the operations of applications in coordination with various formations of the company.
Consolidation of all regularly scheduled computerized Systems.
Developing and distributing the software for local requirements.
Information Systems (IS) Department
The Information Systems(IS) Department, GEPCO was established in September 2002. The sole objective was to meet Information Technology challenges and to take advantage of future opportunities in order to ensure company survival in competitative business environment. The primary responsibility of the IS Department was to develop Information Sytems that will support managerial decision making along with core objective of increasing productivity by efficient utilization of available financial, technical & human resources.
